I. About the Journal

Contemporary Higher Education Studies (《现代高等教育研究》, ISSN 3107-3387) is an international academic journal rooted in Asia with a global perspective. Published by Hong Kong Sourcefount Press Limited, the journal was officially registered in 2026 and is published bimonthly. The journal is committed to publishing cutting-edge, original research and in-depth theoretical explorations in contemporary higher education, with the aim of fostering academic dialogue among higher education scholars worldwide. It focuses on the core functions of higher education, the challenges it faces, innovative practices, and the proactive role of universities in social, economic, and cultural development amid a rapidly changing global landscape.

 

II. Scope and Objectives

The journal welcomes submissions from scholars of diverse theoretical perspectives, disciplinary backgrounds, and career stages. We invite manuscripts that address specific issues in the field of higher education, presenting the latest empirical findings through rigorous data analysis and solid evidence. Cross-disciplinary research spanning the full spectrum—from macro-level policy and meso-level organizational studies to micro-level teaching practices—is particularly encouraged, as is comparative research that offers unique Asian perspectives or yields insights of global significance. The journal does not accept the following types of submissions in principle: manuscripts lacking in-depth higher education research, general commentaries or essays, non-academic institutional or project evaluation reports, book reviews, and special issue proposals.

IV. Submission Guidelines

1.Manuscripts must be original and unpublished. They must not have been previously published in any publicly distributed print or online publication, either domestically or internationally. Plagiarism, duplicate submission, data fabrication, and other forms of academic misconduct are strictly prohibited. In the event that academic misconduct is identified, the editorial office will revoke the acceptance of the manuscript; published articles will be retracted, the authors’ institution will be notified, and no submissions from the author will be accepted for a period of three years.

2.Manuscript content must be closely aligned with the theme of higher education. Submissions should present clear arguments, be well-supported by evidence, logically rigorous, and written in fluent language. They must demonstrate academic value or practical significance and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.

3.Manuscripts should be 5,000–8,000 words in length (including figures, tables, and references).

4.Manuscripts must include the following complete elements: title, author name(s), author affiliation(s) with city, province/state, and postal code, abstract, and keywords in both Chinese and English; as well as a Chinese-language author biography, introduction, main body, conclusion, and references.

 

V. Submission Channels

The journal’s online submission system is now open, and email submissions are also accepted. Authors are requested to prepare a complete English manuscript, editable versions of figures and tables, a cover letter, and other required materials.

Submission Method 1: Online Submission System. Authors may log in to the official submission system of Contemporary Higher Education Studies (https://journal.sourcefount.com/index.php/xdgdjyyj/zh_Hans/about/submissions), register an account, and upload the electronic version of the manuscript as prompted by the system. The email subject should indicate “Submission+Paper Title”, accompanied by attachments containing author information, funding project details, and other relevant materials.

Submission Method 2: Email Submission. Please send submissions to xdgdjyyj@163.com. The email subject should be formatted as “Author Name(s)+Paper Title”. Manuscripts should be submitted in Word document format, with editable versions of figures and tables placed in a separate folder and compressed into a zip file, then sent as email attachments along with the main manuscript document. File names should be consistent with the email subject .

 

VI. Acceptance and Copyright

1.If the authors do not receive a notification of acceptance, revision, or rejection from the editorial office within two months from the date of submission, they may dispose of the manuscript at their own discretion.

2.The journal holds the legitimate rights to the information network dissemination, reproduction and distribution, compilation, and translation of published manuscripts. Submission of a manuscript constitutes the authors’ acceptance of the journal’s copyright terms.

3.The journal firmly opposes academic misconduct. Manuscripts found to involve academic misconduct upon verification will be rejected, and the authors will be placed on the journal’s blacklist.

1.During the inaugural call for papers period, high-quality original research papers will be given priority in review and publication.

2.We warmly invite senior experts in higher education from around the world to lead frontier research topics and host thematic studies. We also sincerely welcome emerging scholars to share distinctive chapters from their doctoral dissertations or postdoctoral research reports.
